Every September, Palma celebrates one of its most anticipated cultural events: La Nit de l’Art. For one night, the city transforms into a giant open-air museum. Galleries, courtyards, streets, and squares fill with exhibitions, installations, and performances that bring contemporary art to everyone. It’s the moment when local and international artists open their doors and the city pulses with creativity.
What it is and when it happens
La Nit de l’Art officially kicks off Mallorca’s art season. It usually takes place in mid-September, starting late in the afternoon and lasting well into the night. This year, the event will be held on Thursday, September 18. Most galleries in the Old Town and La Lonja district open for free, creating an urban art route that invites you to stroll and explore.
What to see during Palma’s biggest cultural night
You’ll discover works by emerging and established artists in galleries and museums, as well as independent spaces and private courtyards that open only for this occasion. This 29th edition features more artists, more exhibition spaces, and exciting new collaborations. The 14 galleries that make up Art Palma -including Galería Fermay, La Bibi + Reus, Pelaires, and Maior- will join institutional venues such as Casal Solleric and Es Baluard, along with private spaces that add to the city-wide art route. Outdoor installations, live music, and conversations with artists make every corner of Palma breathe creativity on this night.
Tips to enjoy Nit de l’Art
- Arrive early: As evening falls, the streets get busy, so start your route ahead of the crowds. Parking in the center can be tricky, so give yourself time (and patience).
- Plan a route: Check the official map and choose your must-see stops, but leave room for spontaneous discoveries.
- Take it slow: Don’t rush to see it all. Stop for a glass of wine in a gallery, enjoy the street atmosphere, and let yourself be surprised along the way.
Getting around Palma that night
The cultural event of ‘Nit de l’Art’ is best experienced on foot. All the main galleries are within a short walk of each other in the Old Town. If you’re coming from outside Palma, public transport or taxis are the best options, as many streets will be closed to traffic. The ideal plan? Stay right in the Old Town so you’re in the heart of it all.
Nit de l’Art at MHouse
This year, MHouse joins the celebration with an in-house exhibition by artist Julio Feroz, open from Thursday, September 18 to Tuesday, September 23, accessible all day for you to visit at your own pace.
On Saturday, September 20, join us for a special evening event from 8:00 p.m.: art, music, and plenty of Gildas at our Gilda Lobby Club, the perfect way to combine art, gastronomy, and Palma’s coolest vibe without leaving the hotel.
