Welcome our new album

Mallorca in winter invites you to see the island from a different perspective. Temperatures drop, but remain pleasant, and with more than 300 days of sunshine a year, winter becomes one of the best times to enjoy the island outdoors, practice sports and discover landscapes that often go unnoticed in summer.

It’s the perfect season for activities like hiking, cycling or simply walking without rushing. A time to connect with nature, breathe fresh air and explore authentic corners of the island. And if there is one place that truly represents all of this, it is the Serra de Tramuntana.

Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Serra de Tramuntana runs along the northwest coast of Mallorca and is home to some of the island’s most spectacular scenery. Mountains, stone paths, forests, sea viewpoints and historic villages such as Valldemossa, Deià, Sóller or Banyalbufar. In winter, without the heat and crowds, the experience becomes even more special.

If you are staying in Palma, the Tramuntana is closer than you might think. Here are four ideal routes to explore it during the winter months.

4 hiking routes in the Serra de Tramuntana

1. Camí de s’Arxiduc (Valldemossa - Deià)

One of Mallorca’s most iconic routes. This historic path, built in the 19th century, connects Valldemossa with Deià through oak forests and viewpoints overlooking the Mediterranean. It’s a very complete hike that combines history, nature and unforgettable panoramas.

With a medium level of difficulty, it’s ideal for those looking for a well-marked route with constant scenic rewards. In winter, the light is especially beautiful and the walk can be enjoyed at a relaxed pace.

2. Banyalbufar - Port des Canonge

A perfect route for those who want to combine sea and mountains in a single excursion. The trail descends from the village of Banyalbufar, known for its terraced landscapes and winemaking tradition, down to the small Port des Canonge.

The route offers open sea views, easy-to-follow paths and a very authentic atmosphere. With a medium-low level of difficulty, it’s ideal for a winter morning followed by a relaxed lunch in one of the nearby villages.

3. Barranc de Biniaraix

Located near Sóller, this gorge is home to one of the most impressive stone-paved paths on the island. The route follows an ancient system of channels and dry-stone steps through a green and fertile landscape.

It’s a hike with some physical demand, but highly rewarding. The surroundings, especially in winter, offer a deep sense of connection with Mallorca’s rural and traditional side.

4. Caimari - Lluc Monastery (Camí Vell de Lluc)

A classic route that links the village of Caimari with the spiritual heart of the Serra de

Tramuntana: the Lluc Monastery. The path climbs gradually through pine and oak forests, with calm and well-defined sections.

It’s an ideal option for a half-day excursion. In winter, the trail is particularly pleasant, with cool temperatures and a serene atmosphere.

Tips for enjoying the Tramuntana in winter

Before heading out, it’s advisable to check the weather forecast, wear suitable footwear and dress in layers. Although the climate is generally mild, temperatures can vary depending on altitude. Bringing water, some food and starting your route with enough daylight will make all the difference.

MHouse: your urban base to explore nature

After a day in the mountains, returning to Palma and staying at MHouse is part of the experience. Located in the heart of the old town, our hotel is the perfect starting point to combine city life and nature during winter.

Comfortable rooms to rest, a patio to unwind and a team ready to help you plan routes, transport or local recommendations.

This winter, Mallorca is best explored on foot, at a slower pace, with MHouse as your city refuge.
