Welcome our new album

Palma is not just a city to explore, it’s also the perfect base to discover Mallorca. From here, you can combine history, culture, gastronomy and the sea without needing a car. Staying in the centre means having everything within reach: easy connections, spontaneous plans and the freedom to come back whenever you feel like it.

If you stay at MHouse Boutique Hotel, right in the old town, you’ll be just minutes away from bus and train stations, as well as cycling routes that connect you to some of the island’s most beautiful spots. This guide is designed for exactly that: easy, accessible and charming day trips from Palma without a car.

5 day trips from Palma without a car

1. Illetas Beach: turquoise waters just minutes away

One of the easiest and most rewarding escapes from Palma. In less than 45 minutes by bus, you can reach Illetas, a small area of coves with crystal-clear water.

You can spend the day at Illetas Beach, which is more spacious and comfortable, or walk to Illetas Militar, a quieter spot with that hidden-cove feeling. For lunch, you have two great options: the classic Balneario Illetas, right by the sea, or the chiringuito “Nanai Beach” at Illetas Militar, perfect for something more laid-back.

A simple plan that combines sun, swimming and good food with no effort.

From MHouse Boutique Hotel, just take bus number 4 from La Rambla and get off at stop 93 - Ses Illetes.

2. Bike ride to Portixol: Palma by the sea

If you like staying active, renting a bike in Palma is one of the best decisions you can make. Our reception team will be happy to help you find the right option, whether it’s a standard or electric bike.

From the city centre, you can follow the seafront promenade towards Portixol, one of the most pleasant seaside neighbourhoods. The route is completely flat, easy and offers constant views of the Mediterranean.

Once there, we recommend ordering a llonguet at Es Vaixell, a local favourite for a relaxed meal in the sun, or simply sitting on a terrace and letting time pass.

One of those plans that only needs a bike, the sea and time.

3. Vintage train to Sóller: history and landscape

One of Mallorca’s most iconic experiences. From Plaça d’Espanya station, just a short walk from MHouse, you can take the historic train that connects Palma with Sóller.

The journey crosses the Serra de Tramuntana, passing through tunnels, mountains and ever-changing landscapes. Once in Sóller, you can continue the experience by taking the tram down to Port de Sóller.

A perfect excursion to combine nature, history and that slow living feeling Mallorca does so well.

4. Valldemossa: a historic village in the Tramuntana

Another easy car-free plan is visiting Valldemossa, one of Mallorca’s most beautiful villages. Direct buses leave from Palma and take around 40 minutes. You can catch bus number 203 from the Intermodal Station.

Stone streets, traditional houses, flower-filled façades and a calm atmosphere make it a special place. Wander around, visit La Cartuja or stop for a coffee and coca de patata at Ca’n Molinas.

Perfect for a relaxed morning or afternoon.

5. Cala Mayor and a walk back to the city

Very close to Palma, yet with a holiday feel. Take bus number 4 or 46 to Cala Mayor and spend a few hours at the beach, one of the most accessible from the city.

For lunch, you can eat right on the beach at Kokomo, or head up to the main street for smash burgers at “Doble Smashburger”. If you’re more into a sweet break, “Che Gelats” or “Iannini” are perfect for an afternoon treat.

Afterwards, if you feel like extending the plan, you can walk back towards Palma along the coast or connect to the promenade. A simple way to combine beach and city in one day.

Palma as your base: the best way to discover Mallorca without a car

In this sense, MHouse Boutique Hotel is the ideal choice if you’re looking for a hotel in central Palma with great connections. From here, you can plan any of these excursions with ease and return to relax, enjoy the patio or keep exploring the city.
